SAN FRANCISCO, CA – Mind Share Partners, the nation’s leading nonprofit in workplace mental health, announced it has selected Morey Riordan as its new CEO. With more than 25 years of experience, Riordan is a nationally recognized leader in advising on workplace cultures, building inclusive teams, and growing nonprofit organizations addressing challenging social issues.
Riordan, who begins his new role on July 15, was unanimously appointed by the Board after a rigorous national search process conducted by Mind Share’s Search Committee with assistance from talent firm NPAG.
“Mind Share Partners has been an innovator and thought leader in the workplace mental health movement since its inception,” said Jill Miller, Board Chair. “We are now at a critical phase as a movement and as an organization and have been searching thoughtfully for the leader for this moment. Morey is that person whose values, strategic vision, inclusive leadership, and consensus-building approach will take workplace mental health to the next level. On behalf of the Board, we are absolutely thrilled for Morey to lead us through this next stage.”
Riordan founded and grew the Transgender Strategy Center (TSC), where he and his team provided strategic advising to major corporations and large foundations around creating welcoming workplaces for transgender employees, facilitating 2,500 hours of coaching to develop leaders and organizations. TSC also administered $3 million in community-driven grantmaking to organizations led by transgender and gender nonconforming (TGNC) leaders. Morey led the nonprofit’s revenue generating efforts through both client services and philanthropic revenue–a model also used by Mind Share–and raised $10 million.
As vice president of access and innovation grantmaking at AIDS United, Riordan worked to improve the health outcomes for people living with HIV/AIDS nationally–a population that experiences disproportionately high mental health challenges–and managed a $12 million Southern philanthropic portfolio consisting of 75% Black-led and serving organizations. He also spearheaded a national partnership with Johns Hopkins University to measure health outcomes, community impact, and cost analysis within service organizations.
“As we approach the next stage of workplace mental health, new strategies will be required to keep mentally healthy cultures top of mind for leadership teams and to reflect the intersectionality of mental health challenges at work,” said Founder Kelly Greenwood, who stepped down as CEO in December 2023 and remains on the Board. “I could not be happier to pass the baton to Morey given the unique combination of his lived and professional experiences. He is the right leader at the right time, when momentum has never been greater for change in the workplace.”
Using an equity lens, Mind Share Partners provides consulting and training while leading a national movement for workplace mental health and wellbeing. Clients include Pinterest, Morrison Foerster, Prudential, and Sandy Hook Promise. On the advocacy side, the organization is known for its executive storytelling initiative, groundbreaking biennial research on employee mental wellbeing, and thought leadership articles in Harvard Business Review.
“I am so grateful for this truly unique opportunity to lead Mind Share Partners and to help so many people in workplaces across the country,” said Riordan. “The work on mental health is deeply personal, given my own journey and the experiences of many I know. I am eager to help write the next chapter in the workplace mental health movement.”
Mind Share Partners is a nonprofit that is changing the culture of workplace mental health so that both employees and organizations can thrive.
